A remote control is an electronic device that is used to operate another device from a distance, typically wirelessly. A remote control in consumer electronics can be used to operate devices such as a swing gate motor, a sliding gate motor, or other arm motors. A remote control can be used to operate items that are out of reach for direct control operation. They are most effective when used from a short distance. This is mostly a convenience function for the user. In some circumstances, such as when a gate opener is triggered from outside, remote controls allow a person to operate a device that they would otherwise be unable to reach.
